CHI Touch Screen Hairdryer Review & Giveaway!

Let's face it, all of us gals feel a little pang of envy when we see the gorgeous Kate Middleton with hair so bouncy and shiny that it's worthy of a crown---but bouncy, shiny, voluminous hair is not out of reach for us "commoners" (haha, sorry, I just had to say it).  It's about having the right tools, the right technique and the right products.

Over the past couple of years, I've used quite a few hairdryers.  I had a  Revlon dryer that I purchased at the drugstore for about $30 and didn't know what I was missing. A hairdryer is a hairdryer, right? Not quite.

I had my first professional hairdryer experience (outside of the salon) when I tested out a Hana hair dryer which was great, but broke after just a month or so of use. Then, I ordered my Elchim hairdryer, which I love.  The bottom line? Professional hairdryers make a huge difference in the quality of your blowout. I even bring mine with me when I travel because I can no longer use a low-power, takes-forever-to-dry-hair, hairdryer.

When CHI contacted me about testing out their new Touch Screen Dryer, I was intrigued.  I hadn't heard of this new model before but I now know it was featured on the last season of The Apprentice.

As I mentioned above, I'm a diehard believer in owning a professional hairdryer. They are pricier, yes---but they are also more effective, dry hair faster (how much is your time worth?), have more personalized features, feature the latest technology and yield better results overall.

When the hairdryer arrived, I anxiously awaited my next blowout, eager to see what it was all about. I didn't read the instruction manual prior to using it---because I like tech tools and products that are intuitive and the only way to test that is to go into it blind.  It was simple. I un-boxed it, plugged it in, the screen turned on, I made my selections in the heat, speed and ion settings and hit the power button.

Initially I was surprised at how quiet the dryer was. It made me question whether or not it was as powerful as my Elchim.  All of those questions were soon answered when I realized about 12 minutes later how quickly the CHI Touch Screen dryer had blown out my hair---and my hair even looked and felt shinier (maybe it was the ions).  I didn't realize how much of a difference the ions can make until I watched this video (note: it's pretty impressive).

I love that the CHI Touch Screen hairdryer is about as custom as you can get with your blowout experience. The touch screen is basically the iPad of hairdryers and allows you to adjust all of your settings to best benefit your hair type and styling needs. Just like with an iPhone or iPad, all it takes is a quick tap and swipe to get your blowout on.

 Your speed setting---I always use it on high speed

 Your heat setting---I use mine on high (but not all the way to the end)

 Your ion setting--- I use mine on medium

There is also, of course, a cool touch button located right at the nape of the inside of the handle so you can seamlessly transition from hot to cool---and it's very lightweight for how powerful it is---lighter than both my Hana and Elchim (which my biceps especially appreciate the morning after a tough workout).
