Our Weekend...

I'm in practically in a cherry-coma right now (i'll get to that soon) so what better way to unwind after a nice weekend than to write a quick blog post?

On Saturday, my friend Adrienne was in town from D.C. We all went out for Thai food and it was delicious! We hope to plan a trip to D.C. when Harper is a little older. Speaking of this restaurant, the last time we ate there together, I went into labor the next day! That chicken pad Thai sure is effective! Ha.
How cute is Harper's gold star headband from 2gents1lillady

Also---my striped top is from Boden---and they're having a sale this week: 22% off + free shipping: Sunday, 10th November to Thursday, 14th November. Use promo code: DABGThe discount will be reduced to 15% off + free shipping: Friday, 15th November to Sunday, 17th November. Use promo code N006.

Today we went and visited Kevin's friend, who was the best man at our wedding, and his wife in the hospital to celebrate the arrival of their baby girl Berkley!  She was 10 lbs and was born with a full head of hair.

After our visit we grabbed a quick lunch and headed over to Reliant stadium to check out Houston's Nutcracker Market.  It's a huge event with tons of vendors---from food, holiday decor, clothing, jewelry, etc. I mostly enjoy the specialty foods and holiday decor.  It can be a little overwhelming because there are just so many vendors and it's such a large space.  I fed Harper as soon as we got there and she ended up sleeping for a good hour in her Ergo carrier which was great.
I picked up some cherry products from Cherry Republic and when I got home I devoured the sour candies and chocolate covered cherries to the point where I now feel sick...haha. I will definitely be placing an online order for more of these goodies. They are delicious and make great gifts. So glad we stopped at that booth.

We also picked up some gingerbread cookies and an ornament for Harper from the Houston Ballet.  They didn't have a ballerina with red hair (boo!) what's a girl to do?
Harper's high chair came in this week too! I'm so grateful for all of your feedback. We ended up getting the Boon Flair. My mom actually got it for us as an early Christmas gift for Harper since it's the only "big" item we really needed so she wanted to get it for us.  We won't use the chair for a couple more weeks until we start solids at six months but Harper seems to like it.  I went with the Boon because ultimately I wanted something that was easy to clean (didn't have a fabric cover to remove) and had an adjustable height (this one can be used at counter height as it's about as tall as our barstools).  Harper has been noticeably more interested in our food lately so it looks like her interest in food is coinciding right about with the six month mark!  When did you start solids with your baby and what did you start with? We are going to skip rice cereal and do baby oatmeal and vegetable purees.

I also bought this book about making baby food. It's really important to me that I make most of Harper's food. I want her to have the opportunity to try all kinds of fresh vegetables and fruits and if I can make them in large batches and freeze everything then I think the effort will be very much worth it. My own diet isn't fantastic so I don't want Harper to eat any of the processed stuff we do sometimes, especially as she's first trying solids. For on-the-go I've heard that a lot of moms love the Plum Organics pouches so we will eventually incorporate those too.
I hope you all had a great weekend!  I'll leave you with this sweet photo of Harper hanging out in her crib. We moved her bunting to her wall under her gold "H" now that she sleeps there and I love it. We also pulled the netting off to the side and removed her bumpers. So far she is sleeping really well in her crib.
